Robert is a native English speaker from New York City, currently living there and in Barcelona, Spain. After obtaining a TESOL Certificate in 2010, he volunteered at Columbia University’s Community Impact program from 2011-2017, helping immigrants of various nationalities and levels of proficiency adapt and learn English. This was highly rewarding and he now devotes his career to solely teaching, always reaching the student at his or her level and moving forward. Since 2016 he has taught at various language schools in New York City, gave private lessons in Barcelona and worked remotely. At Embassy English he created a class called English Through Films. He received his BA undergraduate degree in Communication Arts, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later attended The American Film Institute as a director, making a 20 minute film that was broadcast and sold in the US and Europe. He worked for many years as a location scout on commercials, films and music videos.
He has pursued his interest in language through teaching ESL, studying foreign languages and extensive travel. He speaks Spanish and French, and was raised in a multilingual household, attending the United Nations International High School.
A metaphor for learning a language is watching a photograph slowly come into focus, as grammar and pronunciation begin to get mastered the photo gets sharper and the student gets more confident is his abilities. He welcomes the opportunity to work with you.
